This is the most stunning replica car that I've ever seen. I'd love to be friends with the group of guys that built this thing...

For some reason, I have strong feelings against a replica like this, as stunning as it is. Because it's so beautiful, and a supercar, perhaps? It doesn't matter that it's old - I'd feel the same way about a McLaren F1 or Enzo replica.

I have no problem with Cobra reps, Beck Spyders, etc., but there's just something about copying a car so rare and special that just seems... wrong.

Maybe the only way I'd get on board with the idea is if it was meant to be displayed as outdoor sculpture (in order to keep the original out of the elements, like a Michelangelo).

On the other had, having a sweet rep like this and getting to drive it around would be pretty amazing. I'm torn. Maybe I'd just have to put the word "tribute" on it in clear view...

As you've pointed out, this car is massively rare, so even the people who can afford to buy one for $12 million rarely get the chance to own one, let alone drive one. I have no reservations about replicas being made of a car like this when they are executed to the level that this replica has achieved because it is an exercise in a form of craftsmanship that needs to be practised otherwise it will be forgotten.
